Unit 4 The Mind-Body-Spirit Paradigm

1. Loving Kindness Experience: I understand this exercise is to be beneficial for me but I found is easy on some days and difficult on others. When I first did listened, it was in the evening after a good day. As I listened to it tonight, it wasn't after such a great day and I had a hard time focusing without my mind wondering. I felt relaxed but not at peace like I did the first night. Even though it is difficult, I will keep doing it because I want to expand my consciousness. I have already recommended guided meditation to two people. I even went to Youtube.com and found a few that I liked and recommended them.

2. "Mental Workout": The concept is that in order for our minds to reach, transform or transcend our regular consciousness, we need to practice meditation on a regular basis in order to strengthen, hone in, and fine tune our abilities to be have a sustained path for happiness, heath and wholeness. Research has shown that when a person stops practicing or working out, there is a drop in their conditioning. This means that they my not be physically or mental ready when game time comes. A person has to persevere and practice in order to get great. A person can implement mental workouts to foster psychological health by first learning two types of contemplative practices, loving kindness and subtle mind. Loving kindness helps a person become less focused on themselves and more on others which will lead them to further psychological development into the subtle mind. At this practice of the subtle mind, a person continues to train and tame their mind by going deeper into their consciousness and exploring the essential nature of their mind and experiences (Dacher, 2006).

Unit 3 Mind-Body Connection

1.A: 7, I am not where I would like to be physically. B: 9, I am very strong in faith. C:8, I am currently under stress and anxiety, I only know this because it is effecting my body but not my mental abilities. I will win!

2. A: My goal is to finish Insanity and complete my 90 Day Body by Vi Challenge. B: My goal here is to make more meetings and to introduce more people to Nichiren Buddhism. C: My goal here is to start using the meditation recordings given in this class to help still my mind and be calm. I know that the exercising helps to reduce stress.

3. I am already implementing the things above in my life and can see a difference.

4. My experience with The Crime of the Century exercise was not so relaxing. It was informational since I know a little about the Chakras. What did help me more than "picture" it in my mind was placing my hand on the places I could reach. This actually helped me to focus the light coming out better.

Journey On relaxation exercise Unit 2

Hello Dr. D and Class!

I truly enjoyed this Journey On relaxation exercise. I first I didn't think it was working but when the guide said to try and raise your arms, I wasn't able to! They did feel heavy and warm. I would like to try this again where it is more quite and I can sit on the floor or a chair that I am comfortable in. I had to do this with other people in the room and they were speaking softly. I couldn't believe it helped me to relax but it did! I had my doubts but they are gone!
